Lecco - Northern Italy

Lecco is located just 50km North of Milan. It is situated at the end of the south eastern branch of Lake Como.

View of Lecco from the lakeside
The towns setting is stunning, with the crisp, clear blue water of Lake Como at it's base, and the green, rugged mountains behind. The town itself is full of shops, cafe's and bars, and there are plenty of things to do and places to see.

You can walk along the shore of the lake and sit under the shade of the trees. Boats offer cruises around the lake, and there are several different destinations, although Bellagio is highly recommended (see post on Bellagio). The views from the boat are stunning (see below) and it is by far the best way to see the area.

Lecco itself is an attractive town, with plenty of history and beautiful architecture.

The small cobbled streets of Lecco

The small streets are better suited to bikes and mopeds than cars

The best way to explore Lecco is on foot or by bike, allowing you to find some of the old architecture of the town

From the small streets, it is possible to reach the shores of the lake in minutes

Lake Como is perfectly suited to watersports and boat trips are highly recommended
